The people here weren't doing what they did because they loved it, or even for the money. Sure, it was impressive, but there was no soul to it. Dozens of other companies put in various. Nickelodeon had half of a room and put in an arcade. There isn't a dealer's floor: instead there's a giant room full of random crap. If you've ever been to a convetion before, it feels like a convention made by someone who had never been to a convention, but had heard about them. It's full of manufactured smiles and sleek cameras, and people who want a chance to be big.īut it's not just that. It's full of people who, as they said, just want to be famous, and are desparately trying for it. Let me tell you now: VidCon is a cesspit. I'd been to a few conventions before, so I figured I knew the drill. I went to VidCon last year, and being a huge fan of people like Hank and John and so on, I was excited to see them, and watch panels and, you know, convention stuff.
